Preparations for the hybrid AFRICA BUSINESS DAY 2022 which will take place on the 30 June 2022 in Baden at the Trafo Event Center (registration HERE) are well on track. Over 300 participants are expected representing a variety of sectors from more than 30 countries.

This upcoming edition, again held under the patronage of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO and with Sika AG as a main partner, will be hybrid, allowing for in-person exchanges as well as for company representatives based across different regions to participate and network virtually.

This year's theme is 'Next generation business in African markets'. Urbanization, population growth, technology development or climate change are just a few megatrends influencing the way businesses define their global business strategies. Almost 60% of Africa’s population is under the age of 25. By 2050 two in every five children will be born in Africa, and Africa’s urban population is expected to nearly triple by 2050 to 1.34 billion. Africa Business Day 2022 will look at some of the major megatrends on the continent from the perspective of the African youth.

The morning part of the program will address the topic from a macro perspective, including keynote presentations from Swiss and African perspectives, a panel discussion as well a one-on-one conversations highlighting the impact of above-mentioned megatrends on the continent and the world, what is means for corporates and the society, including dimensions such as human capital and skills development as well as entrepreneurship.

During the afternoon, there will be 3 parallel running sessions focused on three African cities, as well as 3 thematic breakout sessions themed:

  • Breakout Session 1:Sustainable Cities – Hubs of Innovation, Low Carbon Industralization and Climate Action
  • Breakout Session 2:Understanding Africa’s Middle Class and its changing dynamics
  • Breakout Session 3:Fostering inclusive growth – How your ESG Strategy can contribute to empower Africa’s youth

African Embassies will also have desks in the physical exhibition area to present trade and investment opportunities in their respective countries.
